In January 2009, Daystar became an approved provider of respite and day habilitation services through the NYS Office of People with Developmental Disabilities. Daystar works closely with the Finger Lakes Developmental Disabilities Services Offices which provides local administration of Medicaid, the Care at Home Waiver and Home and Community Based Waiver programs. These waivers offer families a flexible array of services and supports funded by Medicaid that includes residential habilitation, day habilitation, prevocational services, supported employment, respite services, environmental modifications, adaptive equipment, plan of care support services, family education and training, and consolidated supports and services. Daystar receives some funding through through these waivers to cover expenses associated with providing care to our babies.
